Fire Protection System — Saipem
Crestmark designed, procured, installed, and commissioned an integrated active fire-protection system for Saipem Contracting Nigeria. Scope covered a hydrant ring main, deluge system for critical process areas, gaseous suppression for control rooms, and an addressable fire-alarm system tied to the plant SCADA.

- Complete installation and cold/wet commissioning within programme
- Provide operator training and O&M documentation
What we were up against
The installation had to satisfy NFPA 13/15/20/72, API 2001, and Saipem's internal engineering specifications simultaneously.
Tie-ins to existing plant infrastructure required detailed permit-to-work coordination and out-of-hours execution windows.
How we delivered
The fire-pump house was delivered as a factory-tested skid, minimising on-site work in the operational plant.
Every hydrostatic and functional test was witnessed by an independent inspection agency, protecting handover certainty.
The hydraulic design was fully modelled to NFPA 13 with hydraulic calculations validated against the fire-pump curves selected. Deluge zones were engineered around the client's fire-risk assessment, with cause-and-effect logic implemented in the addressable fire-alarm panel.
All process pipework was fabricated off-site in a controlled workshop, with prefabrication reducing on-plant weld count by 62%. Welders were ISO 9606 qualified; every butt weld was NDT-inspected.
The completed system passed all client witness tests on first attempt, including full deluge activation, alarm integration, and pump start-up sequences. Third-party NDT reports were included in the handover dossier.
The fire-protection network was accepted by the client with zero remedial actions and continues to protect a critical Saipem-operated asset.
